For Immediate Release
December 7, 2009
Nashville, TN – Country music listeners across the nation have already gotten a taste of Josh Thompson with the digital release of his four-track self titled EP and his current Top 30 single “Beer On The Table.” Now, fans can look forward to even more great music with the release of his full-length debut album, Way Out Here, on February 23, 2010.
A native of Cedarburg, Wisconsin, Josh Thompson began pouring concrete with his father’s cement business at the age of 12, giving him first hand insight about the trials of hard-working people everywhere. After arriving in Nashville in 2005, Thompson instantly began writing and quickly established himself as a country artist on the rise. He scored his first major cut as a songwriter with a song called “Growing Up Is Getting Old,” the title track of Jason Michael Carroll’s current album.
Last year alone, Josh played more than 100 shows all over the country and his raucous, energetic live shows drew in a huge fan base. It was Thompson’s raw talent, in both songwriting and performing, that caught the attention of hit songwriters and eventually led to a major record deal with Columbia Nashville. “Josh is the real deal,” says veteran songwriter Casey Beathard. “You'd think he's been here for a long time, as seasoned as he is. It's hard to find a young artist, and I do mean true artist, these days.”
Josh Thompson’s work ethic, the honesty in his writing and the energy in his performances have combined to make him a powerful new voice in country music. With 10 songs solely written or co-written by Thompson and helmed by producer Michael Knox, Way Out Here delivers a powerful showcase of a man who has lived the music he makes.
